Portfoilio Visit
This report will focus on the portfolio visit to ‘Dinosaur’.
After numerous attempts to contact ‘Dinosaur’ for the purpose of a portfolio visit, I finally got a reply from Emily, the strategic planner for ‘Dinosaur’. Receiving a reply from Emily, I found exactly how formal communication has to be through E-mail. She gave me some tips so that when she passed my E-mail to creative director Mark Baeumont, I would come across as more professional. Perhaps the most important lesson I have learnt during this brief is that it takes a long time for people to message you back, and to allow you the time to come down to the studio. After running short of time I had no choice but to go down and see if they would let me in. When I finally found the studio they said that they were very busy but agreed to let me in for 10 minutes. It was interesting experiencing how much formality is needed through preliminary contacts compared to how informal and relaxed they came across in person. The feedback about my portfolio was very positive, which has helped my confidence tremendously. The only negative feedback I received was about aspects of unprofessionalism with my attire and the aspect of turning up before formally booking a time. I found this process interesting and positive in terms of building a network of contacts. I also believe that I have progressed in the realisation of what is expected of me at the end of the third year.
